Behind the scenes – My Passion

Behind the lens.

‘My Passion’  By Music photographer Paul Harries.

Commisson: Kerrang Magazine 2010

The inspiration for the shot came from The Rolling Stones ‘Beggars Banquet’. - Paul Harries

How it was shot:

The main shot is lit with a Bowens 500 pro with a one metre strip soft box on a high stand. A Bowens head and umbrella is positioned on the floor bottom right to add fill.

The back left has a Beauty dish with a honey comb grid to add key backlight. The final light is a head on its lowest power to add lumination to the fire place.

My only cheat was adding the flames to the candles in post-production.

Lighting is one of those topics it seems that we can never really get enough of; the layout gives me ideas about other projects, many thanks. The image turned out fantastic!
