I was lucky to get a last minute pass to this show (thanks again to Rich from 4AD!) and I am very happy I got the chance. They were great to photograph. The key light may have been on the other side of the stage, but the old two microphone conundrum meant it was better to shoot where I was. Hope you like them!
Supported by We Are The In Crowd and The Maine.
I had been looking forward to photographing this band for a long time, I first shot them on their tour in March 2011, they were the first band that ever gave me photo pass.
The energy and enthusiasm they bring to the shows is unlike any other band I have seen. Being the last night of the tour there were a lot of pranks pulled and it was certainly entertaining.
It has been a while since I last shot a live show and Four Year Strong was not one I wanted to miss. I had heard so many great things about them and the certainly didn’t disappoint. Supported by Mastydon, Don Broco and A Loss For Words. More photos can be seen on my flickr.
All Time Low have been one of my favourite bands for a few years now, so having the chance to shoot them at such an incredible venue was a dream come true! The lighting was great and the band were good fun on stage! A night which will definitely stay in my memory.
New venues don’t come around all that often, so when I heard that in nearby Guildford one had recently opened I jumped at the chance to shoot a concert there. The G Live is nice, very clean (almost clinically so) and the stage and lighting rigs didn’t seem all that bad. The real bonus though is that it’s only a 25 minute drive from my house meaning I can edit from the comfort of my own desk!
Kaiser Chiefs were the band in question. They were already a few dates into their current tour and I’d only spotted the show the day before. Fortunately I was able to secure a pass at the last minute and was all set to shoot a band I’d been a huge fan of as a teenager.
Over the last few years I’ve seen quite a few shots of the band playing but had never shot them myself. The lighting on the night was almost solidly dark blue with the occasional burst of red. Fortunately Ricky is a great frontman and can turn even the most dull of lighting set ups into an exciting show.
