The Manchester Academy 3 is a notoriously bad venue for any photographer to shoot at with terrible lighting and no photo pit but i was fairly happy with how my shots came out.

This was probably one of the toughest gigs I have shot for a while just because of the amount of smoke that was used.
Ben Statham: Zappa Plays Zappa | Bridgewater Hall, Manchester – 22/11/11
I thought this would be a great gig to photograph and partly I was right, the venue itself is incredible, and the light (although darker than it looks) was nice and even. The projection of Frank behind the band was also a great touch, particularly given how good the band were, as it synched perfectly.
However, due to the venue being seated, my shooting angles were pretty limited, and although I am happy with my photographs, I would have loved to get more central in order to get a nice close shot of Dweezil in front of his dad. Anyway, that’s life, hope you like the photos!
